Annual General Meeting announced
The next SPS AGM is expected to take place this autumn. Still provisionally scheduled for 1 November, participants can look forward to an appearance by a well-known guest speaker, to be confirmed at a later date.

'Suits amongst the Luvvies' seminar
This autumn, the SPS will be hosting an evening seminar entitled 'Suits amongst the Luvvies'.
The seminar will address issues such as: How does the BBC create its strategy? How does it get buy-in from the creative community? How does a strategy cope with variables like actors and public opinion?
Speakers will include Geoff Goodwin, Project Leader 'BBC Teens', and Clare Reichenbach, Head of Production Strategy.
Further details will be posted on the SPS website as soon as they become available.

Adding value through IT
A business strategy only has value if it's actually implemented. IT can play a key role in implementation – and ultimate success. Over time it can become an integral part of the development of an organisation's strategy. For this to happen, commercial managers must be able to see the potential of IT, and IT managers and their teams must understand a number of things about strategy.
But unless managers understand how IT can bring about meaningful value, they will not be able to get staff to use it purposefully to achieve the company's goals. In issue 12 of Strategy Magazine Richard Wyatt-Haines argued that firms must recognise the importance of IT in three core areas: achieving competitive advantage, delivering greater productivity and transforming the organisation.
