Tell us about your early career and involvement with strategic planning.
My fascination with business strategy began with my very first job. The Post Office employed me at age 19 as a counter clerk in my local shop while I waited to go to university to study electronics. I was shocked at the inefficient organisation I found myself in. So I began suggesting and implementing changes to the local system which, with a few laughable mistakes along the way, became accepted by the very nice postmistress and her staff...
